"I regard Dr. Alfred Huber as one of the most interesting voices among today's composers. As a conductor, I was able to perform his Piano Concerto at the Musikverein in Vienna and his Organ Concerto at the Gasteig in Munich, thereby getting to know his fascinating musical language.
His style defies categorization; he responds individually to the specific requirements of each work, while always keeping the musical quality and the seduction of the listener at the center.
Of particular interest are the cross-connections and inspirations in his music from other genres, such as literature in Thomas Mann's "Doctor Faustus," poetry in Schumann's "Dichterliebe," or contemporary political history in his exploration of 20th-century fascism in Italy, thereby achieving a new context in the understanding of contemporary music in each case.

He never imposes the artful construction underlying his pieces on the listener, his music needs no pages-long explanations or prefaces—and yet, whoever knows how to recognize the intellectual beauty of a score will be thrilled by it as well!
Yes, these qualities are reminiscent of Joseph Haydn, whose music was never received as overly intellectual, but always offered good, high-level entertainment, yet was nonetheless admired by composers of all eras.
Alfred Huber's music is confident, like himself: it has no need to hide behind fashionable or pseudo-intellectual frills, very often a musical-motoric idiom drives the pieces forward, captivating the listeners, it is ‚musician's music‘!
And he is a composer who has been and continues to be performed frequently, which is why you don't find passages with him where, as a performer, you sense how they were intended, but they simply do not work in practice. As an interpreter, I had the pleasure of playing his ‚Sonata Impossibile‘ for cello, percussion, and piano, and his string quartet ‚Ver Sacrum.‘ The latter was a huge success with our subscription audience at the Vienna Musikverein.
Other works, such as the double bass concerto or the viola concerto, I love as a listener.
